GENERAL QUESTIONS

How much does Infinigig cost?

Zip. Zero. Zilch. There are no monthly or annual fees and storage is free. Infinigig's Transfer Gigabytes (XGB) is a system of bandwidth credits. Dollars convert to XGB at the following rates: 1 XGB - $1.00, 2 XGB - $2.00 and 5 XGB - $5.00, 10 XGB - $10.00. XGB is only deducted from your account when you transfer it to another user account or you convert back to US dollars. XGB used for uploads/storage is immediately added back to your account once a file is deleted. That is what makes the storage FREE.

Are there monthly or annual fees?

There are no monthly or annual fees. XGB will be decremented from your account permanently if you transfer it to other users. Transfers occurInfinigig when you move XGB from your account to another account and when someone downloads a file from your account. If your XGB starts to run out, and your account is not set to be anonymous, you will be prompted with an email from Infinigig to add XGB to your account.

How much XGB do I need?

To determine the right amount of XGB to add, you will need to estimate the amount of storage and purchasing power you plan to use. If you don’t get it right the first time, it is easy to buy more XGB or transfer it to another account.

Use the following formula to figure out how much XGB transfer power you will need for your files

((#DWNLDS * SIZE OF FILE) *number of days)/ 1024 = GB

Variables:
DWNLDS = Estimated number of downloads
SIZE = Size of your file in KB (Windows: Right click on file > Properties; Mac: Right click on file > Getinfo)

Example:
Let’s say you expected 25 downloads per day of a 50 MB file which will be available for 180 days That is, the DWNLDS = 25 and the SIZE (in KB) = 50,000 KB.

The calculation would be: ((25 x 50,000) x 180) / 1024,000 = approx. 220GB=220 XGB

If you purchased a Infinigig 500 XGB card for $500.00, you would satisfy your file distribution requirements.

How is XGB power deducted from my account?

Only you can deduct transfer power from your account when you transfer XGB to another account. Or when you share links to files which are downloaded from your account XGB will be deducted on a 1:1 ratio of GB's to XGB's.

How will I know if my XGB is running out?

You will receive a series of warning emails reminding you that your XGB is running out. These emails will include instructions on how to top up your account with more XGB. If your account is set to anonymous you will have to go to Infinigig.com periodically and check your balance We are adding a feature to auto-reload XGB to your account.

Does the XGB in my account ever expire?

XGB in your account never expires. When you add XGB, you keep what you already have.

How do I add additional XGB to my account?

XGB is available online and from geographically convenient XGB Loaders.

Can I delete files?

Yes. In the "my files" menu, click on the file name and select "file>delete" to delete files from your account. When you delete files XGB is automatically added back to your account on a one-to-one basis in proportion to the file’s size.

How do I add additional storage to my account?

Add XGB to add storage by purchasing Infinigig codes or be deleting files from storage.

What happens if my XGB runs out before I have had a chance to refill?

If your XGB runs out on your account, your file(s) will become inactive and will not be downloadable until you reload. If you have specified a method of contact, you will receive a notice explaining that your account is out of XGB and instructions detailing how to re-activate your account. An option to auto reload XGB will be in place soon.

How do I donate XGB? What does donating XGB mean?

The Donate XGB feature allows others to directly pay for and add XGB to your Infinigig account. Infinigig customers use the Donate XGB feature to pay for files or help fund projects and support creative endeavors.

With the Donate XGB feature, people who are recipients of a Infinigig download link can donate money to pay for the transfer power used to deliver additional content to others. How long does it take to upload a file?

The time it takes for the uploading process to complete depends on a number of factors. Larger files take longer to upload. You can expect an upload to take 1-5 minutes for every 1MB if you have a high-speed internet connection.

Upload speeds depend on your connection speed with your service provider. For home users, upload speed is about 10% of download speed. Upload speeds also depend on the number of people using your connection simultaneously.

It is recommended that you turn off P2P applications when uploading, remove Spyware applications from your computer, and compress extra large files to improve upload speeds.

The Infinigig online service does not compress files unless you use our Zip action item.

Why won’t my file upload?

A common reason why a file does not upload is that the file's name contains "URL illegal" characters such as &, %, /,\, -, ., or space. We suggest changing the name of your file before uploading it if the file name includes any of these characters.

With the link copied, you can paste it into an email or post it on a blog or website. This will give your clients direct access to download your file.

3. Another alternative for sharing your file is to give your client access to the file’s page. This page displays more information about the file so clients understand what they are going to download, before downloading. To take a look at the file’s page, choose the "view the file’s page" option. BITTORRENT (P2P) PUBLISHING

What is BitTorrent (peer-to-peer, P2P, torrent) publishing and what does it do for me?

The ability to "torrent" a file or folder gives you the opportunity to share your files on the internet through a peer-to-peer network. Sections of your file are downloaded from various points across the Internet, until the entire file is retrieved. Since the downloading is shared peer-to-peer, there is no cost for file delivery.

How do I create a torrent file or folder?

Go to the "my files" page and click on the file name or folder name. Select "convert > create file torrent" or "convert > create folder torrent" to create a torrent file or folder respectively.

What is P2P smartseed and how does it work?

The P2P smartseed allows you to set a seeding threshold on your BitTorrent sessions. This tells Infinigig to stop actively seeding your BitTorrent when enough external users are already contributing bandwidth. This feature enables you to save your Infinigig bandwidth by relying only on other seeders for bandwidth. When Infinigig sees your BitTorrent fall below this threshold, it again starts seeding to ensure constant activity. You can set the seed threshold on the "my account" page.

What is the multi-tracker torrent support?

Multi-tracker torrent support allows you to specify the names of alternate BitTorrent trackers that you would like Infinigig to include when it creates torrent files for you. This will enable you to upload your torrent files into these external tracking sites if that site supports the "announce-list" torrent feature. You can enter torrent trackers on the "my account" page.

Click on the "xml log" to export the download metrics to your computer (.xml format). The exported data includes even more information about each download such as size, date & time, download IP, and download browser used.

Why are Infinigig metrics so "accurate"?

Infinigig download metrics are "accurate" because delivery statistics are updated in real-time and only files that are fully delivered are counted.

You can export the download metrics to your computer in .xml format by clicking on the "xml log" link when in the metrics "view". The data includes the file name, file size, the data & time of the download, the download IP and the download browser. You can use an IP address map lookup service (on the Internet) to find the country, region and city associated with the IP address. Open the .xml file in Excel to see an organized, searchable, and sort-able display of the download data.
